Helping Others Strengthen their Faith

Our Daily Bread Ministries has been partnering with individuals and groups to help people grow closer to Jesus during this challenging time. Allow us to share with you the inspiring story of one of our partners, Avi Bernadette Gan.

Some 22 years ago, Avi had a life-transforming encounter with God, with the help of Our Daily Bread.

Like many Filipinos, Avi grew up with some knowledge of God. She would say her prayers and attend church on Sundays, but she did not read the Bible and had no assurance of going to heaven.

This made her fearful of death. Every day, she would pray to God not to take her life just yet, because she did not know where she would go. One night, overcome with fear, she reached for a Bible hoping to find comfort in its pages. But she didn’t know where to start.

Then she discovered an old copy of Our Daily Bread. With its Bible verses and devotional insights, it became her “discipler”, guiding her in reading God’s Word every day. It was then that she found God’s peace and calm amid her fears. Several months later, after attending a Bible study, Avi decided to trust Jesus as her Lord and Savior.

“I enjoy deepening my relationship with God,” she says. “I will forever be grateful to the ministry of Our Daily Bread. Thank you for sharing God’s Word, my life was changed.”

Today, Avi runs Adopt A Barangay, a charity project that provides relief to 3,500 families affected by Covid-19. It includes copies of the Filipino edition of Our Daily Bread, Pagkaing Espirituwal, in their care packages.

Avi’s story is an inspiration that all of us can play a part in God’s mission to share His love with others. As we see lives transformed by His Word, we can help make a difference in the lives of more Filipinos.
